The UN Commission on Sustainable Development recognises Refrigerants, Naturally! as a "Partnership for Sustainable Development". This underlines the network’s voluntary character as well as its contributions to the implementation of Agenda 21, Rio+5 and the Johannesburg Plan of Implementation.
In 2011, Refrigerants, Naturally! received the Roy Family Award for Environmental Partnership of Harvard University`s John F. Kennedy School of Government. The judges praised the impact Refrigerants, Naturally! had by approaching the important and often overlooked problem of persistent fluorinated gases in our atmosphere. They highlighted its pragmatic and effective example of corporations and environmental organisations working together to reduce severe threats to the global environment.
In 2005, Refrigerants, Naturally! was the recipient of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Climate Protection Award honouring our efforts in fighting global warming. This award was granted between 1998 and 2009 to recognize exceptional technical achievements in climate protection on the basis of four criteria: originality and public purpose, leadership and corporate responsibility, global perspective and implication, and achieved greenhouse gas emission reductions.
