Refrigerants, Naturally! urges the European Parliament and the Council to bolster the revised regulation during the upcoming trilogue negotiations. We endorse the Parliament's position to completely phase out hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) well before 2050, aligning with the objective of achieving climate neutrality by 2050. Viable F-Gas-free alternatives to HFCs and hydrofluoroolefins (HFOs) already exist, and continued technological advancements will further enhance these alternatives.

Global Cooperation Protecting Life on Earth: World Ozone Day
This year, the Montreal Protocol to Protect the Ozone Layer, turns 35. The Montreal Protocol ended one of the biggest threats humanity faced as a whole: the depletion of the ozone layer by ozone-depleting gases used in aerosols and cooling. Under the 2016 Kigali Amendment, nations have committed to phase down hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) as well. Refrigerants, Naturally! promotes the switch to natural refrigerants: the most environmentally and climate-friendly alternatives to the use of HFCs.

The international standard IEC 60335-2-40 contains safety requirements for electrical heat pumps, air-conditioners and dehumidifiers intended for household or similar use. A Final Draft International Standard (FDIS), i.e. a new version, of IEC 60335-2-40 has been developed and will soon enter its final vote stage where National Committee members of IEC may approve or reject the draft by casting a positive or negative vote.
